Volunteers from the CAP Committee, in its continuing effort to keep the front of SDHS clean along Park and Russ Boulevards, meets once a month, beginning in the Fall, to W alk, T alk and pick-up T rash for one hour.

Afterwards, volunteers meet in the Library to continue their talk, share topics relating to SDHS and enjoy coffee and treats provided by the Caver Coffee Crew Club, students from the Transitions Skills Class and their advisers Marisol Duenas and Vanessa Montgomery.

Our first W-T-T was held on Wednesday morning, November 6th. Here’s a picture of the trash we
picked-up and some of our trash pickers: L-R: Ann-Marie Palma-Kinoshita, Administrative Assistant; Marci Heider, Class of ‘62, Alumni Association; Amy Villafranca, PTSA Emeritus; and Linda Henry, Class of ‘66. Trash pickers not pictured: Jack Dawes, Class of ‘60; Rae Riner, Class of ‘62,
Foundation President; and Gabriela Contreras- Misirlioglu, PTSA. Our next
W-T-T will be on Wednesday, December 4th. We are always looking for
more volunteers.

Campus Action Partners (CAP), is a collaboration between the SDHS Alumni Association, the SDHS Foundation and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). In addition to our monthly clean-up, CAP will be teaming up with ASB on March 28, 2020 for our Annual All Campus Beautification Day. Over 150 students, staff, parents and CAP volunteers will be “beautifying” the campus.

Also, CAP administers Teacher Funding Requests for field trips, campus speakers and classroom needs. Limited funds are provided by the PTSA on a first come, first serve basis. If you can spare 1 hour a month to pick up trash or would like to volunteer to help with the March 28, 2020 ASB Annual All Campus Beautification Day, please contact Marci Heider at marciheider45@gmail.com.
